Choosing Your Garage Door Opener Type
If your garage door needs to be outfitted with automatic opening capabilities, there are four primary garage door opener systems to choose from. Selecting the right system for your garage is critical to ensure it serve your family well and fit your home conditions. For example, while chain-driven garage door openers are generally very durable, they are normally much noisier than a belt driven opener. Therefore, it need to be considered in case a bedroom is located above the garage. Our trained and educated technicians will be happy to help you select the best fit for you.

Chain-Driven Garage Door Openers
Certainly the most popular type of garage door opener, by far! Firstly, chain-driven opener systems are inexpensive. Secondly, they are easy to install. And Thirdly, easy to maintain. However, since the chains are made of metal, chain-driven openers are also quite loud. Therefore, if noise levels are an important concern for you in particular, you may want to make the upgrade to a quieter system.

Belt-Driven Garage Door Openers
Belt-driven opener systems operate similarly to chain-driven systems with one major difference. Instead of metal, the belts are made of rubber. As a result, the opener is much quieter. If you’ve ever gone to a friend’s house and his or her garage door seemed to open silently, chances are, he or she had a belt-driven system installed. To sum it up, though more expensive than chain-driven systems, a small investment towards a belt-driven system can make for a far more peaceful home.

Wall Mount Garage Door Openers
Wall mount garage door openers gained popularity for residential use in recent years. It is certainly ideal for homeowners and business owners who would like to free up some ceiling space and reduce operation noise and vibration.

Troubleshooting Your Garage Door Opener
If your garage door opener seems to be “broken”, that might be the case. However, more commonly, there is just a problem with the opener system. We will check for all of these potential problems when we come to diagnose your garage door opener troubles. On the other hand, if you’re a savvy homeowner, you may be able to fix the problem yourself. Firstly, follow the tips below.
Movement, but Not Fully Functional

Safety Sensors
Since 1993, all garage door opener systems in the USA are required to have two photo eyes. The safety sensors face each other, about six inches off the ground, on the two opposing sides of your garage door. These photo eyes “look” at each other when the garage door is closing. Most importantly, if something blocks the path in between the two photo eyes, the garage door will not close. Therefore, be absolutely certain that nothing is blocking the path between the two photo eyes — not even a spiderweb. In addition, if the garage door still won’t close, something or someone may have put the photo eyes out of alignment. So once the photo eyes are properly re-aligned, the garage door will close.

Emergency Release
If your garage door opener system seems to be functioning perfectly, but the door isn’t moving (for example, it’s making noise and nothing seems to be wrong). There is a good chance the emergency release is activated. To clarify, once activated, this feature keeps the garage door in place. For most systems, the emergency release hangs down from your garage door trolly.
Nothing is Happening

Vacation Lock
Certain garage door opener systems give you the capability to completely disallow opening and closing. This feature is frequently called a “vacation lock”. Be sure you have not accidentally activated the vacation lock. For most systems, the vacation lock is mounted somewhere on the side of the garage.

Power Source
Any garage door opener system certainly requires a source of electricity. The breaker that is connected to the opener system might not be working. If this is the case, you may need an electrician. However, we’ll be able to tell you for certain if the problem is with the power source, and we may be able to help you fix it if the problem is simple. In conclusion, once you fix the source of power, your garage door opener system will work again.

Gear
It happens. Sometimes your garage door opener system just breaks. As a result, the entire system might stop working. Give us a call at (855) 556-4433 or submit a free estimate request. We’ll be able to tell you which part broke and why. Then, we’ll get to fixing that part so that everything is running smoothly again.

Batteries
We hate to ask, but have you changed the batteries in your garage door opener remote recently? Sometimes, the solution to a big problem is very small. What a relief!
